Since the incorporation of a recovery machine to our production plant in 1997, Marienberg has implemented a “Zero Waste” policy in its manufacturing, that is, zero industrial waste sent to landfills. All surplus of a production with high quality standards, or products that cannot be marketed, are reprocessed to be reintegrated into the production chain.
Today, more than 25 years after our commitment to waste-free production, Marienberg takes an important step forward in its responsibility to sustainability.
Our responsibility for our products covers their entire life cycle
Marienberg has integrated a new high-capacity recycling machine with a high level of filtration into its production plant, which allows it to recycle material beyond what is generated in its production processes. This new addition allows Marienberg to recycle the weight equivalent of one city car per hour, or 5 average elephants per day!
With this, Marienberg is responsible for the entire useful life of its products, calling on its customers to deliver the used material to reintegrate it into the national production chain, in products with lower technical requirements. An example of this is the Marienberg PP Strap Circularization Program, which allows users of polypropylene straps (white, transparent and black) to reduce their volumes of plastic waste and the increasing cost that this means with the implementation of the new regulations. environmental. Also, it is an easy, practical and economical system for companies to meet their goals and practices of caring for the environment.
How does recycling work?
1- Reception of material
We receive external and internal surpluses of Polyethylene (LDPE and HDPE) and Polypropylene, marked with numbers 2, 4 and 5 on the recycling stamps.
We carry out a separation by color and type of material.
The material goes through a machine that grinds it into particles that allow its subsequent processing, in addition to homogenizing the mixture.
The ground material goes through the extruder, a stage in which the transformation occurs: temperature is applied, impurities such as paper, labels, dust, among others, are filtered, to later extract gases that can reduce the quality of the material, and finally transform it into pellets.
The resulting pellets go through a quality review process, integrating them as raw material for products with less technical requirements.
It is important to emphasize that plastic can be recycled for new uses, up to 12 times in the case of polyethylene and up to 8 times in the case of polypropylene. In our case, the reprocessed material is of high quality, thanks to the high level of filtering in our process.
